Dutch Minister promises to woo more investors for Rwanda

The Minister for Migration in the Netherlands Fred Teevens, commended the investment opportunities Rwanda offers, mostly to the Dutch companies.

He made the remarks during discussions with Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mushikiwabo in Kigali.

Teeven appreciated the investment opportunities Rwanda has offered to the Dutch companies, as a resultant the companies from Netherlands are looking forward for cooperation in other fields such as agricultures and trade.

At the event a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual support in the field of migration and combating illegal migration between the two countries was also signed.

Teevens said that the Netherlands government appreciates the cooperation with Rwanda and vows to do more especially in migration field, “we did a lot together in justice field and I think we can also do more in migration field”.

Minister Fred Teevens who is on a three-day official visit, visited Gisozi memorial center in the morning.

Reading the message left, he said “It is very impressing and shocking to see what happened over here in Rwanda. Let us be sure that this never happen again in the world and in Rwanda. I will never forget what I saw”.

During his visit Minister Teevens visited Mpanga prison in Nyanza District, the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) and the Nyamata Genocide Memorial.

Minister Mushikiwabo also stressed the need to keep working with Netherlands more in other sectors such as business, investment and trade.

Minister Mushikiwabo commended the partnership between Rwanda and Netherlands, especially in justice sector.

“We appreciate the continually growing bilateral relationship between our two countries. Justice is a special sector in Rwanda given our tragic history. We have been seeking a balance between justice and reconciliation.

The contribution of Netherlands government in rebuilding and reforming Rwandan justice sector has been very much meaningful to Rwandans” Mushikiwabo said.

Minister Mushikiwabo also stressed the need to keep working with Netherlands more in other sectors such as business, investment and trade.
